SoNorA: Austrian national workshop in Villach

On 7 October 2010 a workshop within the EU-project South-North-Axis (SoNorA) took place in Villach, Austria. Because of the location at the node of two important European corridors (Baltic-Adriatic-corridor and corridor X), the logistics centre has the potential to act as an international player. So the business location of Carinthia develops new markets and improves its location quality on a global market.

The focus of the workshop was laid in the discussion about a suitable, future-oriented market offensive with stakeholders from economy, science and politics. One topic was to discuss strategic concepts for the development of the logistics centre “Villach - Süd” to an important logistics location on a global level.

SoNorA Consortium Meeting in Portorož

sonora_logoBetween 24 and 26 February a consortium meeting was held in Portorož. The event was an excellent opportunity to meet and communicate with project partners from the different SoNorA countries. In addition to an exchange of information on the TEN-T strategies, a university think tank and a meeting of the steering committee was organised. Info PDF.

 

 

Crucial Decision for the Baltic-Adriatic Axis

hafen2_hThe approval of the BATCo project (Baltic-Adriatic Transport Cooperation) by the Central Europe Monitoring Committee in Vienna was a decisive step towards strengthening and further development of the Baltic-Adriatic Axis. As a consequence of the positive decision of the Committee the project receives funding in the amount of EUR 4.2 million for lobbying measures.

 

 

Austrian State Award for Transport 2009

100316_staatspreis_opThe Austrian State Award for Transport 2009 (with this year’s focus on “security through technology and creativity“) was awarded on 17 March 2010 by the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology. The solemn award ceremony was held at the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna. The prizes were presented by Federal Minister Doris Bures in the categories “Concepts and development of prototypes/system solutions” and “Products/system solutions implemented on the market”. In addition, the winners of the Special Award for Creativity and of the Jury Award were selected out of the 62 submitted projects.
